Exceptional times require extraordinary responses, in the sense of out of the ordinary and habitual. For this reason I have decided to open this new blog:

Handmade.
Weaving words during the quarantine

Handmade. Because we have witnessed how, even in rich countries, with Corporations wealthier than entire nations, with billionaires who do not know in which of their N properties and yachts they will be quarantined, with advanced technologies like never before in human history... even in these countries our doctors, nurses, and all health care personnel have had to resort to the generosity of ordinary people, who have hand-made masks and other security items and donated them.

Handmade, because in these times when resources are scarce, we must start creating and building with our hands a better future for all.
Here I will have mine and otherswritings that have been inspired during the quarantine.

My first language is Spanish and my poems are translated by myself. I know that they could be poorly translated and I apologized for that, but I cannot let the language be a barrier. Please let me know if you see mistakes.

Superheroes

Superheroes

We always thought that it's about being the strongest
The deadliest, the macho-man
Superheroes are the ones
with those biceps
And triceps
And abs
Anonymous and undercover
Masked and caped
flying around saving lives.

And the real villain comes
to destroy life as we know it.
It’s not the invisible man
although we can't see it
Not a dragon
but it flies from place to place
It is not Godzilla but collapses
markets and hospitals
It is small
and vulnerable
And it has shown us our
vulnerability.

But now we know
it’s not about the force of muscle
Real heroes, with homemade masks
And plastic caps
And donated covers
Are running around saving lives.

With the power of science
And the superpower of altruism
Brave and caring
They are the authentic superheroes.

And their determination shows us
that the future is empathy
or it is not.
Their goal is to save lives
and their legacy will be
to change the world.

This poem was inspired by the video of Dr. Zubin Damania in his YouTube channel ZDoggMD.
The fact that our doctors and nurses do not have enough PPE is already the last straw, but that they are also silenced and prohibited from reporting these facts is beyond incredible. It is unacceptable. When I saw the video, I was moved because it seemed to me that if someone now has the power to change a barbaric health system, it is the doctors and nurses, because in this historic moment, without them we are all dead. They are superheroes, not only for their science and altruism, but because their determination can effectively change the world.

We have summoned another Middle Age
—Plague included--
of ignorance, rich gods,
poor towns and flat Earth.
We have forgotten what we learned yesterday
and ignored the sunsets,
the grass covered on dew and
the sunflower message.

We have forgotten what we are
And we no longer look for the roots,
we don't even know the seeds
and the fruits surprise us
              like magic.

We have forgotten the processes
we have no patience for
understand births
nor do we want to accept the outcomes.

We do not give importance to the hands
and what they can do
finished things surprise us
               like magic
and we gladly give our life time
to acquire them made:
We have given them the power to give status.

We don't want to spend time growing
We do not want to sow or wait for the smallest bud
We have forgotten the natural laws of
cause and consequence.

We have reached the end of our obscurantism
Death had to come visit us
Not as an important guest
But as the neighbor, the friend, the one who knocks on the door and hugs you

But then we will have a real Renaissance,
         —Including She who wants--
We will listen to music and poems again
And enthusiastically attend to wisdom
We will be dazzled by new beauties
and will recover what is known so far.
Again we will give life its seat in the pyramid
And things will keep their place without prevail by force.
A hug will be gold
And the water will be life
The sun will return to the center of this rising era
And the holding hands will be the new nets
that cushion the fall of the gods.

Maybe spring will come after all
even if she arrives small and doesn't stay,
even if she doesn't bring fresh air or dew.
Even if we are tired of so much Apocalypse
and we have forgotten that she would come.
But she will come.
Because life pulses to sprout
breaking the earth tightly hug
With its wisps of spears
And its petals strength.
